No potion, no cream, No super duper laser…the answer is simple. What you eat is what comes out and consuming dairy… well, makes all kinds of things come out.

Milk is a food in beverage form, designed to make things grow and contains a range of powerful growth hormones, because that is what milk does, it grows stuff.

CAN MILK CAUSE BAD SKIN AND BAD ACNE?
Insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is one of the growth hormones found in milk. IGF-1 is problematic for acne victims for two reasons. It increases sebum production, and it stimulates the growth of skin cells. The faster the skin cells grow the faster they also die. That means more dead skin cells to block the pores. Consequently it also leads to faster aging of the skin. Um… wrinkles and blotches anyone?

CLEAR ACNE FOR FREE.
Get glowing skin for free. Slow the aging of skin by just getting off milk and dairy products. Is it that simple?

Have you ever thought to ask why acne is a western problem? Only in westernized countries is cow’s milk a large part of the diet. Countries like China who have begun to consume milk have just begun to endure the same skin problems. Look at China’s youth today.

There are many misleading myths that certain foods — such as chocolate, peanuts and greasy food — cause acne. But so far, milk and dairy products are the only foods that have been linked to breakouts.

Take a good look at a strict vegan’s skin at any age, it is beautiful, glowing and requires no cover up. Don’t be afraid, ask them – they will be happy to let you in on the skin secret, which actually isn’t a secret. The research is out there, just the dairy industry and cosmetic industry would prefer you continue to purchase their products.

Deeper research and more information on the effects of milk and dairy can be found in the milk documentary ‘Got the facts on Milk?’

‘Got the facts on Milk?’ will be screening at Whistler Public Library on Tuesday, July 10th at 7pm, with complimentary dairy-free food samples provided. Admission by donation.

Residents and visitors of Whistler are invited to spend an evening at the library watching an entertaining movie and sampling delicious food. Earthsave Whistler has partnered with Whistler Public Library to screen the movie ‘Got the facts on Milk?’. As the second movie in their Summer Movie Series, Earthsave Whistler wanted to show this documentary to inspire people to consider why they drink milk and whether it is the best choice for their health.

Travelling across the country with the end goal of asking the USDA’s nutrition experts about cow’s milk, filmmaker Shira Lane and her team interview scientific and medical experts, farmers and members of the public, and intersperse these clips in the movie with humorous animations, and little known facts about milk.

One of the main questions they ask members of the public is why they drink cow’s milk. Is it just because they always have, because their parents gave them milk or maybe because they’ve seen those ‘milk moustache’ ads on TV? Humans are the only species that drinks mothers’ milk past early childhood and the only species that drinks the milk from the mother of another species. And yet milk is so prevalent in Western diets that we rarely ask ourselves why we drink milk.

Advertising has led people to believe that their bones will crumble away without the calcium provided by milk, often implying that people would have to eat huge amounts of alternative calcium rich foods in order to obtain the same quantities. But milk has been implicated in several health issues, from acne and asthma to osteoporosis and cancer. In addition, many people are lactose intolerant and yet continue to consume dairy even though it causes them problems, because they have been led to believe that they have no other choice.

‘Got the facts on Milk?’ takes a light-hearted look at these issues and raises the curiosity of those interviewed to learn more about whether milk really is good for them.

In addition to screening the movie, Earthsave Whistler will be offering complimentary dairy-free food samples. Earthsave aims to educate, inspire and empower people to make better food choices and believes that sharing delicious, nutrient-rich food is a great way to inspire people to add more healthy foods into their diets.

DOCUMENTARY SYNOPSIS

Got the facts on Milk? is a wildly entertaining, partly animated feature documentary that questions the deep-rooted American belief in the health benefits of milk. Filmmaker Shira Lane’s dairy allergy prompted her to examine the scientific research on the subject, and, baffled by the lack of consensus, she took a road trip to the US Department of Agriculture’s Nutrition Information Center for the facts. On her month-long, 4600-mile long journey to Washington DC through the American Southwest and Bible Belt, she meets with top doctors and researchers, dietitians, dairy farmers, parents, teachers, and plenty of “ordinary Americans” who provide both comic relief and food for thought.

The film raises questions about dairy’s role in cancer, osteoporosis, weight gain, asthma, acne, early menstruation, and more; covers the preponderance of lactose intolerance in communities of colour, and explains why dairy consumption is fraught with high-stakes political, economic, ethical and environmental considerations.

Got the facts on Milk? has won several film festival awards, including the audience award at the 2008 Rhode Island International Film Festival, and has outraged filmgoers around the world.

Event Details:
Tuesday, July 10th at 7pm
Whistler Public Library
Admission by donation (which goes towards the cost of screening rights and food samples)
Note: the room has a 50 person capacity so please arrive early to ensure entry
http://www.earthsavewhistler.com/events
http://www.milkdocumentary.com/

The Dairy Industry has worked diligently to market cows milk; claiming the white beverage can do an array of things beneficial to human health, from building strong bones to substantial weight loss. Filmmaker Shira Lane uncovers another side to this controversy, highlighting the Federal Trade commissions correspondence with the dairy industry, refuting a number of the dairy industry claims, and talks with prominent physicians, dieticians and others who strongly disagree with the Dairy industrys position.

Looking back in history, advertisers used doctors to promote cigarette smoking. All studies, funded by the tobacco industry, returned favorable and were used heavily in marketing materials. In 1964, a smoking and health report was published by the Advisory Committee to the Surgeon General of the United States. It was based on over 7000 scientific articles that linked tobacco use with cancer and other diseases. This report led to laws requiring warning labels on tobacco products and to restrictions on tobacco advertisements. This seems to have a connection with the Dairy Industry in a way that all studies funded by the dairy industry return favorable to the Dairy Industry, yet independent researchers return with far different results. Got the facts on Milk? gives a voice to those independent researchers, not funded by the dairy industry, who present an adverse side to dairy both in terms of health and environment.

Israels leading broadcasting company acquired the broadcast rights to the film and will be broadcasting the film this week on March 23rd on YES DOCO. DVDs and streaming of the documentary can also be found at milkdocumentary.com

The truth is the dairy industry never had the science to prove this claim. When research was requested to prove the claim , they quickly discovered that milk consumption actually does the opposite – it depletes the body from calcium. How does milk deplete your body from calcium?

Like all animal protein, milk acidifies the body pH which in turn triggers a biological correction and it turns out that calcium is an excellent acid neutralizer. The biggest storage of calcium in the body is obviously in the bones. So the very same calcium that our bones need to stay strong is utilized to neutralize the acidifying effect of milk. Once calcium is pulled out of the bones, it leaves the body via the urine, so that the surprising net result after this is an actual calcium deficit and possible kidney stones.

Knowing this, you’ll understand why statistics show that countries with the lowest consumption of dairy products also have the lowest fracture incidence in their population.
For more milk myths debunked

This DVD “Got the facts on Milk? is a real eye
opener! I do know how big business propagates it’s bullpuckie (I cleaned this
one up!) just to sell it’s wares.
Join Kathryn as she interviews award winning filmmaker, Shira Lane. Shira’s film, Got the facts on Milk? The Milk Documentary, is an entertaining, award winning feature documentary that dares to question the conventional wisdom of the much publicized health benefits of milk and dairy products. Addressing myth, truth and all in-between, the film is a humorous yet shocking exposition that provokes serious thought about this everyday staple. The film raises questions about dairy’s role in cancer, osteoporosis, weight gain, asthma, acne, early menstruation, and more; covers the preponderance of lactose intolerance in communities of color, and explains why dairy consumption is fraught with high-stakes political, economic, ethical and environmental considerations.

Feature documentary on milk ‘Got the Facts on Milk?’ promotes increased interest in a non-diary diet among Buddhists and yoga practitioners.

Shira Lane, director of the new documentary film ‘Got the Facts on Milk? – The Milk Documentary’ was in the rural town of Xi’ah’e meeting with Monks of the Labrang Monastery. The documentary film provides a candid look at the high-stakes political, economic, ethical and environmental issues involved with milk consumption.

The Labrang Monastery is home to 6 monastic colleges covering esoteric Buddhism, theology, medicine, astrology and law. Many Buddhist monks in the Himalayan region depend on a diet of yak milk, butter, and cheese due to the harsh winters and nomadic nature of Tibetan society. Lane presented the Monks with a copy of the film and discussed the potential hazards of milk consumption. The timing of Lane’s visit was particularly poignant given China’s rapidly increasing consumption of dairy products, which may have profound effects on the health of China’s population and the environment worldwide.

Although it is unclear whether Himalayan monks will universally remove diary from their diet, there is increased interest in a non-diary diet among Buddhists and yoga practitioners. In late November of this year the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery hosted a free public screening, of the film. After the screening, Monk and teacher Ven. Ajahn Guna, led the audience in chanting, including, “Milk Does a Body Bad”. This was followed by a Q&A with Director Shira Lane. Guna stressed the importance of awareness in connection to the food we consume and its wide-ranging spiritual and physical effects.

‘Got the Facts on Milk?’ is a feature documentary that has attracted considerable underground attention, as it goes behind the scenes of the ‘Got Milk’ campaigns and highlights shocking facts about milk that the dairy industry seems to sweep under the rug.

Currently the film can only be found on the film’s website milkdocumentary.com. Ven. Ajahn Guna, refers to the film as ‘an outstanding contribution to humanity’.
